Kasbah trails tour starts at 7:30 am, to drive southeast and venturing through the majestic Atlas Mountains. After a photo pause, we traverse the highest pass in North Africa, Tizi N’ Tichka. It is a place where nomadic communities spend dry seasons, bringing their animals for grazing.

Explore the mysterious Kasbah of Telouat

As we drive towards the Kasbah of Telouat, we discover its attractive history. Once intended to be the most splendid palace in the world, it was already labelled the “Palace of a Thousand and One Nights”. The intricate décor, predominantly inspired by the stalagmite theme of the Saadien Tombs, displays luxury and grandeur, embracing various traditional motif. The Kasbah which was once the residence of the influential Glaoui family, stands as a solumm monument, a tower of tragedy where laughter finds no place.

Following that, we leave Telouat and continue through the picturesque Ounila Valley, once bustling with the activity of caravans from other countries. The valley offers stunning vistas of traditional villages nestled on its banks providing a glimpse into the timeless architecture of the Berbers.

Discover Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou

Lastly, we arrive at the famous Kasbat Ait Ben Haddou, where history comes alive amidst it ancient mud walls. After a delightful local lunch, we launch on a walk through the village to discover the secret of this fortified village. Its strategic position as a trading post along former caravan routes, enable it to levy taxes. The Kasbah has a really interesting history, filmmakers love using it in many famous movies like Gladiator, Game of Throne, Laurence of Arabia, Babel.

Finally, as the day progresses, we will opt for a different route until we reach Tizi N’Tichka, where we re-join the scenic path back to Marrakech. Expected arrival time in Marrakech is around 8 PM.
